Rinyirru (Lakefield) National Park (Cape York Peninsula Aboriginal land) (CYPAL).
It was declared a national park in 1979. It used to be 2 of the Cape’s oldest cattle stations, Laura and Lakefield.
It covers 4 major rivers and is loosely enclosed in the area between Laura, Musgrave and Princess Charlotte Bay.
A True Adventure
This is one of the Cape’s best when it comes to adventure.
This Journey is an alternate to taking the PDR. And allows you to wander through Rinyirru National Park.
Lakefield Road is a dry weather road and is closed between 1 December and 30 June. The weather can change these dates if it is a long wet season.
The park offers a multitude of fishing and camping opportunities.
Along the way you will have access to over 20 camping sites. As well as a few lagoons and waterholes which are perfect for bird watching.
Just remember crocodiles will be around.
The Kalpowar and Hahn Crossing camping site both have facilities.
